The story of Nif Nif follows the non-violent eponymous pig as he travels through the forest, saving his friends from the yucky goo that plagues it. To fight the goo, players need to use the help of Nif Nif and his friend’s card decks! No, they aren’t challenging the monsters to a game but using the power of tissues, buckets, and more to free them from messy situations.
What makes Nif Nif even more fun is the inclusion of other animals, each with a unique playstyle for polishing and cleaning. As a roguelike, every run with any character will be different, and you’ll never know what animals or challenges you’ll need to face until they’re right in front of you! Even the guardian you face at the end of the run is different every time.
I was absolutely enamored by the apparent love poured into the project. Despite its cute outlook, the gameplay is challenging and diverse, creating an approachable way to play these kinds of games with children. You’ll progressively earn new cards and will need to determine what moves are the best in any situation. Nif Nif is the ultimate combination of cosy, heartwarning, challenging, and fun!
