In a world governed by forces much stronger than the average person, the only choice a person has is to be strong. In Elidriel by Gabriel Schade Cardoso, you’ll play as powerful characters in a fantasy setting where technology, magic, science, and religion coexist. The demo on Steam provides an incredibly deep look at what you can expect from the final release, with everything from unique and catchy music to beautiful and treacherous landscapes and strategy-driven combat.
What Is Elidriel?
Elidriel takes place in an open world filled with different landscapes that is plagued by an ongoing continental war. It plays out like a traditional JRPG on the PlayStation 1 with four directional movements against a pixelated landscape. The enemies are not randomly encountered, which gives you as a player some more freedom over whether or not you actually want to be a part of an encounter.
The encounters themselves in Elidriel consist of a wide variety of strategies that make each battle unique. We absolutely loved the art style used for the enemies, making me think of Japanese 2D fighting games. In every enemy encounter, you have different strategies you can use including magic, skills, techniques, and group combos to inflict even more damage.
When you’re exhausted from fighting, you can find different camps to cook your meals and rest from battle at. We also fell in love with the music, which we felt was unique and catchy for a JRPG, as opposed to repetitive and monotonous.
What Features Does Elidriel Have?
You can expect to enjoy the following features in Elidriel:
