Very few games are as blunt and profane as The Edge of Allegoria. On the outside, it replicates an old-school Pokemon gameplay style. When you actually get into it, you see how not very family-friendly it actually is. When we popped open the demo, we were delighted with everything we played through. When The Edge of Allegoria finally does come out, we’ll be one of the first to pick it up.
What is Edge of Allegoria?
The Edge of Allegoria is a 2D RPG that puts you in the shoes of a self-named protagonist. With the help of your dog, you will battle against different creatures and fight against evil. For some reason, you’ve taken on the role of hero, despite the fact that it’s not your problem. Worst of all, you aren’t even special. You don’t have any powers or abilities and your dog isn’t even all that useful (sorry, bud).
As you progress, you’ll earn a fuck-ton of abilities and equipment. All of them are just as ridiculous as you would expect, but each plays an important role in gameplay. Just like the aforementioned Pokemon games, you’re encouraged to keep exploring. However, you’ll need to be careful against the randomized enemy encounters.
What Features Does The Edge of Allegoria Have?
As you travel through the world of Allegoria, you’ll face a number of interesting gameplay features including:
- More than 143 unique enemies that you can face. These include ferocious Canadian geese, unicorns, and more!
- Collect over 150 pieces of equipment and learn more than 80 skills.
- A colorful cast of characters who each have something to say. Some even have a quest or two for you to benefit from.
- Travel across a world of monsters and magic peppered with coarse language and inappropriate content.
Where Can I Play The Edge of Allegoria?
The Edge of Allegoria has a Steam page with a free playable demo. We definitely had a couple of hours of fun during our playthrough. The page also has a ton of extra information about what you can expect from the final release.
You can also follow the game’s official Kickstarter page. That way, you can get all of the information you need when it officially goes live.
We recommend giving the game a follow on Twitter/X and Instagram if you want to keep up with its development.
