Conquering Chaos in Lucky Tower Ultimate – A Cartoonish Romp Through a Tower of Mayhem

2–3 minutes

Lucky Tower Ultimate by Studio Seufz feels a lot like if the board game Munchkin was made into a video game. It’s also very clearly made by people who find the humor in fantasy-type games where you’re basically a murder hobo. As a roguelike, each run is completely different, making each time you jump in a new adventure. After going through it several times, there are still a few things that I know that I haven’t seen or experienced yet. I guess I’ll just have to pick it up when it gets released later this year!

Lucky Tower Ultimate is a roguelike that has you exploring a tower from top to bottom as the gallantly brave guy… just a guy. He’ll find other adventurers to travel with as he kicks down doors, loots rooms, and kills monsters. Since the game doesn’t start you off with weapons or even armor, part of the fun is in finding and equipping those things to make runs longer. Even if you’re accepting them from a weird, goblin mage guy who randomly appears on different floors.

The point of each run is to make it to the bottom of the tower without dying. If you die, you’ll be resurrected— with a cool new haircut— at the top of the tower. You’ll soon realize you can choose to play and explore as you wish. You can pick up and equip different armor sets, eat things you find off the floor, use almost anything as a weapon, and even talk to your companions.

Communication can be key as you send your companions forward to check out rooms before you do. They’ll also help you in fights using their different abilities. As you progress, you’ll want to have as many companions as possible for both conversations and to help kill all those pink goblin guys.
